> Today was probably the best Spring Training game for the Brewers yet. They completely murdered the Indians, 12-2, on both sides of the field.
Nearly everyone in the lineup- including the pinch-hitters- had at least one RBI. Norichika Aoki, Nyjer Morgan, Logan Schafer, Travis Ishikawa, Mat Gamel, Brooks Conrad, Jonathan Lucroy, even Cesar Izturis- all of them had RBIs. Conrad, Morgan, Gamel, and Lucroy all had home runs.
The pitching was also great until the ninth inning. The Brewers held the Indians hitless until the sixth inning, when Manny Parra gave up the first hit. But, he still had a great outing (two innings, three strikeouts) considering this was just his second appearance over the past year and a half. Randy Wolf was the starter, and threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings before being taken out for Juan Perez. With those scoreless innings, the Brewers starters now have a 0.71 ERA this spring, which is insane.
Gamel might be picking up thepace, at long last. He hit a home run yesterday against the Reds, and then another today, which could mean he’s getting into a groove. He’s still only hitting .231, but that will go up- I’m sure of it.
Ryan Braun didn’t have any hits today, but he got his first hit of the spring yesterday- a two-run homer. That had to feel good for his confidence. I haven’t gotten to catch any of the games on the radio the past few days, but I hope the crowds aren’t still yelling “urine sample.”
> And that’s actually all I have timefor. Sorry for a very brief post, but I should mention that I’m going out of town tomorrow, and won’t be back for two weeks. That means I won’t be able to post on here or Reviewing the Brew during that time, unfortunately. But, if for some reason you need to contact me, you can shoot me an email at the site email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or my Twitter, @BreakingWI.
Anyway, thanks for reading, and see you all in a few weeks.
